Calcutta University - M.Phil Entrance Test In History And Interview Dates

M.Phil written entrance test for admission in History (session 2020-21), University of Calcutta will be held at 1.00pm (duration two hours) in the Department of History, Alipore Campus of Calcutta University, 3rd Floor, 1 Reformatory Street, Kolkata 700027, on 12 December, 2019, Thursday. Candidates will have to answer two essay type questions of 25 marks each (Full Marks 50). There will be one compulsory question (25 marks) on the research proposal and one optional question on historiography (25 marks) relating to India and Europe. Successful candidates will have to face an interview on 02 January, 2020, Thursday, in the room of the HOD, History, 4th Floor, Alipore Campus, 1 Reformatory St. Kolkata 27 from 10.40 am. The list of candidates to be interviewed would be displayed on the Departmental Notice Board one week after the Entrance Test. The interview contains 50 marks. Those who would appear in the interview will have to submit one research proposal in the Departmental Office and should carry another copy of the proposal during interview. They should submit their copies (not exceeding 1000 words) at least one week before the interview. Those who have cleared NET/SET need not appear for the written entrance test but interview is compulsory for all. Candidates who are employed must carry one no objection certificate from the employer at the time of interview. Candidates without research proposal will not be interviewed. The Department can admit a maximum five (5) candidates for the current session (2020-21). The Applicants must watch the Departmental Notice Board on a regular basis.
